ADA Compliance for your ATMs
Recently, The U.S. Justice Department revised its Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations, including its Standards for Accessible Design for ATMs, to ensure the same degree of privacy for input and output of information is available to all individuals. This includes a requirement for speech output and touchable input controls to assist visually impaired customers. What does this mean for your financial institution? - Each ATM will need to be evaluated to determine what, if anything, is needed to comply. - ADA requires each institution to implement a compliance plan by the effective date, March 15, 2011. How can Absolute Financial Services help? - We will send a technician to each ATM to gather the necessary information. For each ATM, the manufacturer, model number, year of manufacture or installation, software operating system & version, processor & memory size/speed, monitor type, and speech output capabilities are needed.
- We will work with you to make any necessary upgrades or replacements. What do you need to do? - Contact your Compliance Officer to make sure he/she is aware of the ruling. - Contact your network to find out their plans for getting speech to your ATM and any requirements they may have. - Contact Absolute Financial Services to implement your internal compliance plan.
